Information Theory in Practice: the JPEG Algorithm.

We study the JPEG algorithm, which is a lossy image compressing scheme. We investigate the Discrete Cosine Transform and the Karhunen-Loeve Transform from the information theory perspective, which is essential in understanding the JPEG algorithm.
